FTOG Meeting Information
The Florida Timeshare Owners Group's next meeting will be held on Sunday afternoon, 1:00PM to 5:00PM, November 12th, at the Hampton Inn, Sarasota Bradenton Airport, 975 University Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34243.

Dennis DiTinno, CEO, Liberte' Management Group of the Pinellas Islands,who will discuss the various timeshare ownership contractual alternatives, as the industry evolves, including the inclusion of shorter then life deeded contracts of 5,10, or 15 year leases, and sold without the necessity of an imposition of maintenance fees. He will also raise the question regarding how unit owners may be affected with their annual maintenance fees, as well as pending future exchange confirmations, when hurricane's, or other major weather events, destroy or cause severe damage to their home resorts.
Denise Beamer, Senior Assistant Attorney General, and Assistant Attorney General, Robert Follis, both from the Florida Attorney General's Office, who will cover today's continuing complex timeshare consumer fraud issues, along with the civil enforcement of the Florida Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, including advertising, telemarketing, and other areas of concern.
Jeff Weir, a contributing journalist for TimeSharing Today magazine, and Redweek.com, who will primarily focus on issues impacting timeshare unit owners, including the current trends towards locating new resorts in urban areas, as well as the sudden emergence of many travel and vacation clubs that may provide lower cost travel opportunities, without maintenance fee requirements.
He will also provide a real-time snapshot of recent resales in major vacation areas, and explain why, in some cases, sales are brisk in many locations, and lagging in other timeshare markets.
Kevin Mattoni, Principle Partner, Cunningham Property Management, will indicate "what the individual timeshare owner shall see in the next few years".
Among his topics will be the current preference of today's vacationers, who choose to rent, rather then purchase a deeded timeshare resort unit.
He will also cover the topic of timeshare exchange companies now considering a new business model that does not charge membership fees, as well as the building of rental reservation programs, using GDS, and other means of internet marketing.
Sunny Wiard, FTOG Topic Presenter, who will initiate a general discussion on the subject, "The current resale problems for timeshare owners, and how resort developers and resale companies are complicit in not offering adequate and reasonable solutions for the sale/transfer of ownership".
Craig Woodson, FTOG Topic Presenter, will raise the subject, "Would you exchange or buy a timeshare in Mexico"? He will offer his experiences and recommendations, based on his vacationing in Mexico winter months for the past 35 years, primarily in the Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Cancun, Los Cabos, and Riviera Nayarit resort locations. The past five years have been 10 week stays in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit.
Atty. Mike Finn, FTOG Topic Presenter, will address the subject, "Should owners consider converting their deeded timeshare units to a "right to use" product, which offers primarily only a contractual right to make a reservation, subject to availability, and includes severe competition for available access with the general public that now utilizes the internet for rental purposes"?
Dave Heine, FTOG Topic Presenter, who will present the recommended process for the transfer of ownership, (the timeshare deed), to another party, and why it is essential to utilize professional assistance in order to avoid the various pitfalls that often occur during these transactions.
